What happens in a Scoot Fit session?
Pupils are given helmets and shin pads, prepared with a safety briefing, assessed and then matched to the right scooter for their ability. A track is laid out in your playground with low level ramps which the children scoot around whilst listening to music; it’s like a disco on two wheels. The whole school is bouncing. Even the teachers!
Why participate in Scoot Fit?
Scooting uses the same large muscle groups as running but reduces stress on the bones and joints making movement easier, more comfortable and more sustainable than running.
Scooting with Scoot Fit can be regarded as a core activity helping develop and improve agility, balance, co-ordination, muscle strength and endurance greatly benefiting any other sporting activity.
Less-active, overweight and obese children really benefit from these sessions; for example if they don’t enjoy running, find it just too difficult and run out of stamina they can still enjoy scooting. On the flip side, for children who enjoy running, a Scoot Fit session is the perfect activity to complement their interest.
The sessions help develop new skills and techniques, increase confidence and ability for scooting which will encourage them to start scooting as part of their daily lifestyle.
One day is up to seven 40 minute sessions; so single form entry primaries can cover the whole school in one day. Larger schools can choose selected year groups or book two experience days.
