Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. It includes information about products: ordering, payment, delivery, printing and quality. There is also information on walk to school schemes, cycling and road safety. If you can’t find what you need to know please contact us.

Ordering

Q: How can I order?

A: Orders can be placed online, by email, by telephone or by sending us a purchase order by post. See top of page or ‘Contact Us’ page for contact details.

Q: Is there a minimum order quantity?

A: For most stock products (ie not custom printed) there is no minimum order quantity. However please note there is a minimum order value of £25 inc vat for your whole order. For custom printed items there is a minimum order quantity which varies according to product, eg 100 for custom printed high vis drawstring bags, 500 for custom printed zip clips. See individual product descriptions for details.

Q: Is there a minimum order value?

A: There is a minimum order value of £25.00 inc vat.

Payment

Q: How do I pay?

A: We accept payment by Paypal or debit/credit card for online orders. Some organisations can be invoiced and payment made by cheque, bank transfer or credit-debit card payment by phone (see below).

Q: Can you invoice my school/local authority?

A: Yes. We can invoice schools, state pre-schools, local authorities, police and other public sector organisations based in the UK. Payment terms are 7 days for schools and 30 days for local authorities. Payment can be made by electronic bank transfer, cheque, Paypal or debit/credit card. Q: Can my school/local authority order online and be invoiced?

A: Yes. Please contact us to set you up with an account first. Let us know your name, email and organisation and we will send you a login and password so you can order online and request invoice payment. Allow 1 working day (Mon-Fri) for this.

Q: Do I need to set up an account to order?

A: No. You only need to contact us to set up an account IF you want to pay online by invoice… and this is only for schools, councils or other public sector organisations. If you are paying when you order you do not need this – you will automatically be set up with an account when your order is completed and paid for.

Q: Do I need to log in to order?

A: No. However if you are ordering online and paying by invoice (see above) you will need to log in to enable this. Also if you have previously ordered from us you will have received log in details and by logging in you can see all your previous orders – handy if you want to reorder.

Q: Can you invoice my business?

A: For businesses, charities and other non-public sector customers we can send a proforma invoice for payment with order. Payment can be made by electronic bank transfer, cheque, Paypal or debit/credit card.

Delivery

Q: How much is postage?

A: From 1 March 2020 standard delivery is free to one address within the UK for all orders. If you wish to have your order sent to more than one address please contact us for cost.

Q: How long will it take to get my order?

A: We aim to despatch all stock orders within two working days. Small orders are sent out by first class Royal Mail. See Royal Mail website for expected delivery times. Larger orders (usually orders over 2kg or over £100 value) are despatched by carrier service (usually overnight delivery). Custom printed orders will take longer; details are in product descriptions and we can confirm expected delivery date once you have approved any layouts.

Q: I need the items urgently – how quickly can you deliver?

A: Contact us as we may be able to deliver quicker than usual if you need your order urgently. There may be an additional charge for a faster delivery service.

Q: Will I get my order in time for my event?

A: Always let us know if you have a deadline or event you need your order by; we will let you know if we are able to meet this deadline when you order.

Printing

Q: Can I have waistcoats printed?

A: Yes. We offer a professional printing service – you can have your design printed with a one-colour screen print or full colour digital print in a choice of positions.

Q: Can I have other products printed?

A: Most products in our range can be printed. There is a minimum order quantity for printed products which varies according to product. Please see individual product information for details.

Q: Can I see what the print will look like before my items are printed?

A: Yes. For all custom printed orders we will email you an image of the print layout for your approval once you have ordered and before printing.

Q: What format does my artwork need to be for custom printing?

A: To print images ideally we need an eps or Illustrator file for artwork but we can sometimes work with high res jpeg images. If small changes are needed we can do this free of charge. Larger changes will be charged for but we will get your agreement before doing any design work. See individual product descriptions for details on artwork requirements.

Q: How long will printed orders take?

A: It depends on the product and can vary from order to order.  See individual product descriptions for more details. We will need to liaise with you first to get the artwork, prepare a layout and get your approval for the layout which is usually 1-3 days. As a guide allow 7-10 days for printed waistcoats and 4-5 weeks for printed reflectors from your approval of the layout.

Walk to School and Cycling Initiatives

Q: I’m starting a walking bus at my child’s school, what help can you give?

Q: How can I get more people to join our walk to school scheme?

A: See our walk to school information section and our regular blog for ways to help get more children walking. Check out our walking bus interviews on vimeo and the toolkit developed in partnership with bath and North East Somerset Council on the Travelwest website.

Q: My child wants to cycle; how can I help them?

A: We’ve lots of tips on how to make your child safer when cycling; see our Cycle section with information on cycle training, maintaining their bike, cycle helmet safety and being bright and seen. Keep your bikes, your children and yourself bright with our range of bright products for cycling.

Q: My child needs cycle training – can you help?

A: At Brightkidz we do not currently offer cycle training. We suggest you get in touch with your local authority road safety or active travel team to ask about cycle training provision in your area. Bikeability is delivered through schools but there are other options depending on your area.

School Trips

Q: I’m a teacher planning a class trip out to a city; how can I make my pupils safer?

A: Our high vis waistcoats are a great way to manage a group of pupils when out and about; helping you keep an eye on your group and helping drivers to see them.

Road Safety Education

Q: Can you come to our school fair and run a Brightkidz stall?

A: Sorry, we cannot come to schools to run stalls. However, our Reflector Shop Starter Pack is a great way for pupils to organise and run their own stall.

Q: My child’s school is having a Be Bright Day or Glow Day; what products do you recommend?

A: Let your child have a look through our product range to choose something that appeals to them. Popular items for Be Bright Days or Glow Days include stick on reflective smiles  and  reflective badges.
